new stereo navigation inquiry

Hey everybody,

I've been thinking about purchasing a new stereo for my car.
I am done with the crappy radios and want to purchase a great christmas gift for myself this year. Is there a navigation / dvd unit that is recommended by the forum?

I always see everybody use pioneer and sony. which one is better?
