Hey everyone, I'm buying this engine from a friend and it's supposed to be a 98 EJ20G, which would make it a late 20g from a forester/wrx maybe legacy? It comes with a 4W ecu from a Forester SF5 turbo, I don't think that ECU came in anything else.
So here is my dilemma, I don't think that any of that info is correct. It looks to me like a V3/4 STI EJ20K but I'm having a really hard time confirming that. The sticker on the timing cover is worn out so that's no help, the valve covers are smooth (no 4 cam 16 valve) and the coils are single bolt. Red intake manifold and silver intercooler. Would the engine code be stamped anywhere else on the block? What is really confusing me is the coil on plug, a 20K would have a coilpack right? There is a spot for the coilpack on the manifold but I'm not sure if one came with this engine as the parts for it are a bit scattered right now, still trying to figure out if there is a coilpack in the parts pile. Any thoughts?
