So long story short... I bought my 2003 Impreza RS in 2006 with 80k on it. It now has 235k and (I'm assuming) a broken timing belt as of last Thursday. I'm an idiot for not keeping up on maintenance, I know. I absolutely love this car and I'm not sure what to do with it. That's why I'm asking my fellow RS owners advice.
I want to do something fun with it. Mostly I've been heavily researching doing a V7 EJ207 swap. Most likely from a complete JDM half cut. BUT... I need something to drive right now too.
Here are my options, from most economical/reasonable to probably a "terrible financial decision".
1. Open up the RS, fix whats broken, Keep my stock RS stock.
2. Buy the 08 2.5i from the stealership near me for 9k and park the RS until I can afford the swap. It will probably be a couple years unless I win the lottery.
C. Buy a $600 beater and $10-15k worth of JDM STi half cut and Start on the swap right away.
4. Sell the RS for parts :( and buy a WRX for too much money
What I'm looking to obtain from the swap is a stock V7 STi. I'm talking about literally transferring every piece 1 by 1 from a half cut into my empty RS husk. In the end, no matter what I do, I need a reliable DD. For the past 7 years I have depended on my RS and it never once let me down, never left me stranded, and never emptied my bank account... until now haha.
