hey guys.
well as you can tell by my username, im a newly converted sti fan. one thing iv learnt about these cars is that when they are functioning properly its heaven, but when their not its bad bad bad bad!!
ok so i scored me a 99 impreza with an 00 engine about a year ago. when i first got it i was well aware the check engine light was on and it had a few issues. but now im not sure if the car is worth the time/money to repair it when i could probably return to skylines and have no issues apart from replacing the tires from skids :)
iv connected the plugs under dash and discovered the knock sensor as well as one of the 02 sensors were at fault.i suspect the KS may have been damaged during the previous owners engine replacement, but i didnt worry about these issues too much as i could repair them gradually as i build my knowledge on this wonderful gods gift to the automotive industry (brownie points). ok my main fault (causing me to fail inspection) is the abs code 52,25 and 27 - i know what faults the codes are related to but i dont believe it would be 2 speed sensors AND the control module as well. could it be just the control module?? since the sensors are wired to the module that would make sense why its throwing the sensor faults also right?.
when i turn the key on before starting engine, the abs light turns on then off as it should, but seconds (and i mean literally seconds after) the light comes back on and stays on. i tried to diagnose the issue by disconnected each sensor one at a time to see if there's any change to how the light illuminates... and there was. with each sensor disconnected the light doesn't blink like it did before so its obviously registering the sensors. and now i dnt know if i should try find a testing procedure for the control module... hence the reason iv come here for guidance. thanks in advance guys
