I've been loving Subarus for quite some time and have alway been a fan of the 22b and other imprezas. When I got my Legacy a while back it was game over. After modding that and making a car I'm more than happy with performance/handling wise I yearned for a step up. Then I saw it, a black 1998 Impreza RS Coupe with minimal rust for sale, I had to have it.
Plans:
I'm going to do a whole 22b replica conversion. Wide body, STi motor swap, 2.2 stroker kit, and of course the Bilstein coilovers. The rebuilt motor from this RS will be swapped into my Legacy and it'll be a fun time for the whole family.
Currently:
I've replaced all the brakes, axles, wheel bearing, ect. The owner had done some work to the car already, including:
-Rebuilt 2.5 motor w/ CAI
-Aluminium strut bar
-Lightweight crank
-Lightweight harmonic balancer
-Eibach lowering springs
-Grimspeed (or Rota?) 17x7 rims w/ Falken tires
-Full Tsudo exhaust
-Brand new door panels
-Blown sound system
Sitting in my garage waiting to be installed I have:
-Godspeed sway bars
-Version 1 STi seats from my Legacy w/ 4-point harness
-GC8 carbon fiber strut bar
-18x7.5 Konig Runaway rims in 'empire bronze' w/ BF goodrich Comp2's
-White face RS gauges
-Nardi Torino shift knob
-STi pedal covers
-Short throw shifter
Problems:
The car has a sticking clutch, the guy believes he didn't lube the return bearing well enough but the slave cylinder may just need to be bled. Also the check engine light is on for a 'knock position sensor' fault. The guy has had it rebuilt and it still had that fault. I'm hoping its O2 related or some other form of sensor, any help would be appreciated.
