I know I will probably get my head bit off for asking these questions but I'm trying to plan out my 98 rs swap and I've been researching for almost 2 months now and I have not been able to find answers to these, so its asking time.
First off, I would like to do a USDM ej205 swap but I cant find any complete >100k mile ones... soo it looks like I'm going to go to with a JDM 205 off ebay.
What wire harness should I use with the USDM wrx ecu? The USDM one? Because I still need to pass emissions. I'm sure the jdm engine will come with a harness and ecu. How different are the harnesses? If I pass emissions, could I then throw in the jdm ecu and wire in ACVS? Or are the harness plugs completely different? MY power goals are around 250whp and daily drive-able.
From what I've read, it sounds like the jdm ej205 is a direct bolt in and plug in swap for the 02-03 wrxs, that is if you leave the avcs unplugged. Is this true? Lets say that I merged my RS harness with a usdm harness. Would that make the jdm engine just a drop in swap using the usdm ecu and leaving the avcs unplugged?
