Hi everyone, I did a search, but I haven't found anything on this.
I have been kicking around this idea for a little bit. I brought my Ver 6 EJ207 with me to the states, and I would like to swap it into a 98-01 Impreza. However I will not be able to pass smog in CA with that set up.
Let's say I bought everything from a USDM WRX (02-05), wiring, ECU, intake manifold, sensors, injectors, uppipe. Everything would be USDM WRX except the block, heads, and turbo. So basically it would be a WRX swap with a EJ207 longblock, is there any reason this wouldn't work? I can't seem to think of anything, it even has the threaded holes for the coil packs even though it used a distributor, and plug wires in the original set up. I know the version 6 and USDM WRX use the same intake manifold gaskets, so I am assuming at WRX intake manifold should fit?
Also if it would work, would it still pass smog?
Thank you
