2007 Impreza 2.5i
So I was driving the other day when I noticed a hint of burnt clutch smell. I figured I was just being careless and put it out of my mind. Later on, I engage the clutch and it starts making this terrible high pitched squealing sound. As soon as I release the clutch into gear, everything's fine. I bring it to a stop and as I put it into first, the squealing returns, and the car almost stalls when going into gear. Once in gear, everything is fine. Then the clutch pedal starts to lose tension, not popping up all the way. The clutch is also engaging the gear much lower than usual. I park it in a safe spot, do some research and decide it's the pressure plate most likely. I was planning on taking it over to my dad's garage for a clutch replacement, but when I get in to take it over today the engine won't turn over. I tried pumping the clutch in case it was just the safety switch, but to no avail. What happened?
