Okay guys I could really use some help with an intermittent issue I'm having. I have a 1999 Impreza L and lately I have been having an issue where the headlights will not work. When I try to turn them on the High Beam indicator in the dash will come on, all of my corner lights/taillights/foglights/dash lights will work but the headlights will not. If I try to turn on the high beams them will not work as well.
The funky thing is though, it's not all the time. Occasionally the headlights will actually work normal.
To start diagnosing I went under the hood and swapped out the H/L relays with the horn relay and fan relay since I know those work. No dice. I looked up and down the wiring directly coming out of the bulb and there seems to be no corrosion or broken wires. I figure it can't be a fuse because otherwise this wouldn't be an intermittent issue.
So out of deduction, I decided it must have been a faulty combination switch. I purchased a new one, popped it in and I'm still having an intermittent issue.
Is there something else in the system I'm missing? Does anybody know where I can find a schematic? Where exactly is the ground for the headlight circuit?
I wish I could do some voltage drop tests but my DVOM and all my other tools are an hour and a half drive away and I have only a couple hours until I need to be in work. I'm just looking to see if anybody else here has had a similar issue.
